There’s a LOT to love about this car. The C5 Z06 is one of my favorite modern performance car bargains, as it offers excellent on-road capabilities, great reliability, and the wonderful V8/manual combination.
2003 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, finished in Quicksilver Metallic with a black leather interior.
First offered as an option for the 1963 C2 Corvette Stingray, the Z06 performance package was reintroduced for the C5 model and included a deeper breathing “LS6” V8 engine, a more rigid chassis, stiffer FE4 suspension, functional brake cooling ducts, and weight-saving features such as a titanium exhaust, thinner glass, reduced soundproofing, lighter wheels, and a lighter battery.
Modifications are limited to the addition of window tint, additional Z06 badging, and deer whistles mounted in the brake ducts. It’s also had a “CAGS defeat,” which disables the “skip-shift feature” that forces the driver to shift from first to fourth gear under certain conditions.
The C5 generation of the iconic Chevrolet Corvette modernized the sports car with streamlined styling, improved performance, and a rear-mounted transaxle, which helped the car achieve 50/50 weight distribution. Today, the C5 is admired by enthusiasts as a Corvette that is affordable, capable, and relatively modern.
Power for this Z06 comes from an “LS6” 5.7-liter V8 engine, which produces 405 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. It powers the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
