If you’re in the market for a Model Y, the Performance variant is the one to get – it boasts the same spacious interior and great technology as the standard car, but it benefits from a more powerful drivetrain. This Model Y touts the Full Self-Driving Computer that’s required to unlock Tesla’s Full Self-Driving technology, it’s mostly unmodified. It’s also a one-owner car that’s been Southern-owned since new – and dual-motor all-wheel-drive makes it a viable daily driver in colder climates.

Factory equipment includes 21-inch “Überturbine” wheels, a Performance-specific braking system, a Performance-specific lowered suspension system, a panoramic glass roof, a 15-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, a premium sound system, Autopilot technology, and the Full Self-Driving computer. The selling dealer reports that modifications are limited to tinted windows and the removal of the front and rear emblems.
Introduced in 2020, the Model Y was Tesla’s second crossover offering. Although it’s the smaller sibling of the Model X crossover, it’s actually based on the Model 3 sedan platform and features a similar drivetrain and equipment. At launch, the Model Y was celebrated as a premium EV with a usable range and respectable performance, all at a reasonably attainable price.
Power comes from a pair of electric motors, which draw electricity from a 75-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack to zap the four wheels via 450 horsepower and 471 lb-ft of torque, according to third-party estimates. In 2020, the EPA gave the Model Y Performance a maximum driving range rating of 303 miles when fitted with 21-inch wheels.
